Meet The Team

Martin received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from The Royal Military College of Canada in 1989. He was employed in numerous positions as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and received his Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering from The Royal Military College in 1995. Following his retirement from 1 Construction Engineering Unit in 1998, he became a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario and joined Holsgrove Trucking & Excavating Ltd. of Kingston as a co-owner.  In 2007 Martin became the Project Manager and General Manager  (Western Division) for Cruikshank Construction. Martin established Groundwork Engineering Limited in 2012.

Martin has over 20 years experience as a Geotechnical Engineer and has worked extensively in the design, development and implementation of civil construction and engineering projects.

Lucas received a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from St. Lawrence College in 2017. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with first class standing from Lakehead University in 2021.

Prior to joining GEL, Lucas worked as a Civil Engineering Technologist for GEOCor Engineering where he gained extensive experience in drafting, sampling, Total Station survey, foundation inspections, and writing reports.

​

In January 2023, he assumed the role of IT and CAD Manager and will provide oversight and training and maintain CAD standards.

​

Ataa completed his Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering in 2016 from Qatar University. 

​

Prior to joining GEL in 2023, Ataa worked as a Site Engineer and as a Civil Infrastructure Engineer in Qatar. Following this he worked as a Technical Coordinator for Anchor Concrete. 

Ataa completes preliminary designs for site grading plans, wastewater treatment systems, stormwater management and retaining walls.

He is working toward the requirements for his P. Eng. designation and holds the position of Health and Safety Representative for Groundwork Engineering.

​

Ujjval joined the Groundwork Team in  November 2024. He completed a BTech in Civil Engineering in 2020 from Nirma University. In 2023 he received his M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from the University of Windsor.

​

Ujjval has worked as a Junior Civil Engineer and as a Project Engineer in Surat, India.  

Currently Ujjval works as a junior civil engineer technologist.  He assists in performing topographic surveys and construction layout, wastewater treatment system assessments and designs, and conducts investigations, in-situ testing, and sampling.

Ujjval is the Equipment Manager.

Sydney completed her placement at Groundwork Engineering in April 2022. Following her graduation from the Civil Engineering Technologist program at St. Lawrence College, Sydney became a fulltime employee.

​

Sydney performs site inspections, wastewater sampling, geotechnical investigations and survey operations. She is proficient in the use of trenchless sewer inspection equipment and Total Station and GPS survey equipment.

She conducts in-situ tests, performs investigations, and  retrieves samples for laboratory testing.

Jeremy is an Intermediate Civil Engineering Technologist at Groundwork Engineering Limited. He completed his Advanced Diploma from St. Lawrence College in 2018. He also holds a Diploma of Arts and Science (2015) from St. Lawrence College.

Jeremy has completed a number of Health and Safety courses, workshops and holds associate memberships in OACETT and OOWA. In 2024 Jeremy received the OOWA Young Professional of the Year award and was elected to the OOWA Board of Directors. He is responsible for processing field data and collects data and information from municipalities and regulatory authorities. He has practical experience in Onsite Wastewater assessments and designs.

Danny joined Groundwork Engineering in 2021. He graduated from Fanshawe College in 2013 with an Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology. 

Danny's previous design experience was in custom countertops and CNC machine programming in London, ON. Danny is a CAD designer with a focus on retaining wall design.

Ross completed his studies at St. Lawrence College as a Civil Engineering Technologist in 1983. He is one of the Field Technologists for Groundwork Engineering Limited. He is responsible for preparing reports and coordinating investigations and testing under the direction of the Senior Engineer.

Ross’s previous experience includes work as a Research Assistant at RMC, Survey Technologist for Thomas Engineering Ltd, Junior Inspector for McIntosh Perry Consulting Engineering Ltd., and Quality Control Technician for Cruikshank Construction Limited.

Patti joined Groundwork Engineering Limited in February 2021.  She brings 10 years of construction administration experience from her former employment at Bricaza Corporation.  Patti is responsible for preparing project administrative documents, Accounts Receivable and Payable, Payroll and Reception.

Barb is a graduate of The Royal Military of Canada where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Honors History and Political Science in 1989. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Honors Psychology and Philosophy from The University of Manitoba in 2004. She gained valuable experience in her various positions while serving as a Personnel Administration Officer in the CAF from 1989 to 1994.

Barb was employed as the Administrative Assistant for Groundwork Engineering Limited from 2017 to 2021. In her role as Office Coordinator. Barb handles Human Resources and provides administrative support to the team.
